How To Start Meaningful Conversations At Work

Sometimes, at work, it is hard to begin a conversation with someone we don’t know all that well. I like what the late Anthony Bourdain had to say in an NPR interview last year:

“If you sit down with people and just say, ‘Hey, what makes you happy? What’s your life like? What do you like to eat? More often than not, they will tell you extraordinary things, many of which have nothing to do with food.” - Anthony Bourdain

Here are links to two short videos from the Energy Bar Resource Center on ways people in organizations got meaningful conversations going:

How Vulnerability Opens Doors

How Common Goals Shift Energy

I welcome your suggestions on ways that you’ve found to encourage conversation.

Thanks.
